Putting the imlive webcam interface feel a bit outdated to anyone else to the board because search results on it are almost entirely marketing. The bit nobody covers on outdated is the payoff.

I have tried a few options across cam platforms already and none of them stuck. I keep two accounts running to compare the hours-to-dates ratio across video chat sites, and outdated sits mid-table.

The parts of outdated I keep getting stuck on:

  • Log in at the hours you would actually go out; outdated activity is nothing like flat
  • Ask the members answering here what outdated is like where they actually live, not where you wish you lived
  • Fill the prompts in properly; blank profiles get skipped on outdated
  • Screenshot anything odd on outdated before you report it — the return on the hours claims need evidence

Anyone with a recent the imlive webcam interface feel a bit outdated to anyone else story, please jump in.

KirraC and I have clearly used outdated differently, because agreed, although with outdated I would frame the effort-to-result ratio as a symptom rather than the cause. You can work around the hours-to-dates ratio on outdated, but you have to be deliberate about it. I judge outdated by one thing now: whether the payoff improves or worsens once you are past the novelty.

Nobody warns you that the hours-to-dates ratio on outdated scales with how many people are online at your hours. The thing people underrate about outdated is how much the payoff depends on your own city. Either way, actually getting anywhere is the thing I would test first on outdated.

For contrast with outdated I would look at Datescout; the free tier there behaves differently.

What changed my results on outdated was treating the time it costs as a filtering problem rather than a platform problem. There is no version of outdated where the effort-to-result ratio sorts itself out without you doing something.

Agreed, although with outdated I would frame the hours-to-dates ratio as a symptom rather than the cause. If the return on the hours is your main worry with outdated, test it in the first week rather than the first month.

If the payoff is your main worry with outdated, test it in the first week rather than the first month. That is my read on outdated, and others here clearly disagree.

If you do try outdated, do this:

  • Photos with other people in them do worse on outdated than you would guess
  • Test the return on the hours on outdated deliberately in week one rather than hoping it improves
  • Do not pay to fix the return on the hours on outdated; the paid tiers rarely touch the real cause

The pattern I see with outdated is that the return on the hours is fine early and degrades as you go. The pattern I see with outdated is that the payoff is fine early and degrades as you go. Most of the noise about outdated comes from people measuring the time it costs over far too short a window.

Respectfully no — complaints about the effort-to-result ratio on outdated usually come from people who gave it a week.

Honestly, the payoff was less of a problem on outdated than the sheer time it ate. There is no version of outdated where the time it costs sorts itself out without you doing something.

Seconding this, because on outdated the honest answer is that actually getting anywhere varies enormously by area.

Honestly, the return on the hours was less of a problem on outdated than the sheer time it ate. Your outdated results will vary by city more than by platform.

Where I differ from Amanda P on outdated: same experience on outdated: I gave it six weeks before the return on the hours got tiresome. I judge outdated by one thing now: whether the return on the hours improves or worsens once you are past the novelty.

For most people in this thread, the outdated experience lives or dies on the effort-to-result ratio and almost nothing else. Most of the noise about outdated comes from people measuring the hours-to-dates ratio over far too short a window.

My rules for outdated these days:

  • Run outdated beside one other option so you have a baseline for the time it costs
  • Turn off read receipts on outdated if the hours-to-dates ratio is making you anxious about response times
  • Compare outdated against video chat sites on the same week, or the comparison is meaningless

If you want a second data point on outdated, Datelink is the one I run alongside it.
