Is there a dedicated app for free dating video chat?

Short version: a dedicated app for free dating video chat. Long version below. I do not need a feature list on dedicated video chat — I need to know about the upgrade nag.

For context I am mostly comparing video chat sites rather than anything niche. There is no version of dedicated video chat where the paywall sorts itself out without you doing something.

The parts of dedicated video chat I keep getting stuck on:

• Do not move off dedicated video chat into private messaging until surprise billing looks handled
• Compare dedicated video chat against video chat sites on the same week, or the comparison is meaningless
• Check what dedicated video chat does about the pay-to-see-likes trick before you upload anything you would not want indexed

Tell me what actually happened with a dedicated app for free dating video chat rather than what should happen.

That has not been my experience of dedicated video chat, and I've used it longer than most people in this thread. If a free tier that's not free is your main worry with dedicated video chat, test it in the first week rather than the first month.

The thing people underrate about dedicated video chat is how much surprise billing depends on your own city. Not saying dedicated video chat suits everyone, but it's not the disaster this thread implies.

If you want a second data point on dedicated video chat, Datenest is the one I run alongside it.

Seconding this, because on dedicated video chat the honest answer is that a free tier that is not free varies enormously by area. The pattern I see with dedicated video chat is that the paywall is fine early and degrades as you go. Most of the noise about dedicated video chat comes from people measuring the paywall over far too short a window.

There is no version of dedicated video chat where the point where it starts charging sorts itself out without you doing something. Nobody warns you that the trial that quietly renews on dedicated video chat scales with how many people are online at your hours. I keep two accounts running to compare locked messaging across video chat sites, and dedicated video chat sits mid-table. I judge dedicated video chat by one thing now: whether the paywall improves or worsens once you are past the novelty.

Picking up CarterV's point about the point where it starts charging, this matches what I found with dedicated video chat, where the paywall is exactly where it falls down. I keep two accounts running to compare locked messaging across live video rooms, and dedicated video chat sits mid-table.

What changed my results on dedicated video chat was treating the trial that quietly renews as a filtering problem rather than a platform problem. You can work around the upgrade nag on dedicated video chat, but you have to be deliberate about it. Nobody warns you that locked messaging on dedicated video chat scales with how many people are online at your hours.

Disagree, because blaming locked messaging lets you off the hook — my dedicated video chat results improved when my profile did. You can work around surprise billing on dedicated video chat, but you have to be deliberate about it.

The short version for dedicated video chat:

• Ask most people in this thread what dedicated video chat is like where they actually live, not where you wish you lived
• Block early and report often on dedicated video chat — it trains the feed faster than anything
• Log in at the hours you would actually go out; dedicated video chat activity is nothing like flat

For contrast with dedicated video chat I would look at Turndate; the free tier there behaves differently.

Agreed, although with dedicated video chat I would frame locked messaging as a symptom rather than the cause. Honestly, the trial that quietly renews was less of a problem on dedicated video chat than the sheer time it ate. You can work around a free tier that is not free on dedicated video chat, but you have to be deliberate about it.

Broadly agree on dedicated video chat — the upgrade nag was what decided it for me too. For regulars here, the dedicated video chat experience lives or dies on a free tier that is not free and almost nothing else.
