Curious where people land on adult chatrooms are the most heavily moderated against bots, because I keep getting told two opposite things. What I care about with chatrooms is obviously unreal accounts more than anything else.

Most of my experience is with messaging-first sites, which may be why I am stuck. What changed my results on chatrooms was treating obviously unreal accounts as a filtering problem rather than a platform problem.

The parts of chatrooms I keep getting stuck on:

  • Write a first message that references their profile, not your own — chatrooms rewards it
  • Do not pay to fix bot accounts on chatrooms; the paid tiers rarely touch the real cause
  • Screenshot anything odd on chatrooms before you report it — the scam side of it claims need evidence
  • Test bot accounts on chatrooms deliberately in week one rather than hoping it improves
  • Fill the prompts in properly; blank profiles get skipped on chatrooms

Even a one-line answer on adult chatrooms are the most heavily moderated against bots would help at this point.

Agreed, although with chatrooms I would frame fake profiles as a symptom rather than the cause. What changed my results on chatrooms was treating scripted messages as a filtering problem rather than a platform problem. If fake profiles is your main worry with chatrooms, test it in the first week rather than the first month. The pattern I see with chatrooms is that profiles that never survive a video call is fine early and degrades as you go.

What changed my results on chatrooms was treating bot accounts as a filtering problem rather than a platform problem. The thing people underrate about chatrooms is how much obviously unreal accounts depends on your own city. I judge chatrooms by one thing now: whether automated engagement bait improves or worsens once you are past the novelty. Your chatrooms results will vary by city more than by platform.

If you do try chatrooms, do this:

  • Run chatrooms beside one other option so you have a baseline for scripted messages
  • Turn off read receipts on chatrooms if profiles that never survive a video call is making you anxious about response times
  • Compare chatrooms against messaging-first sites on the same week, or the comparison is meaningless
  • Message within a day of matching — on chatrooms that window closes fast
  • Give chatrooms a fortnight of daily use before calling profiles that never survive a video call a dealbreaker

The thing people underrate about chatrooms is how much fake profiles depends on your own city. There is no version of chatrooms where profiles that never survive a video call sorts itself out without you doing something.

The thing people underrate about chatrooms is how much automated engagement bait depends on your own city. Most of the noise about chatrooms comes from people measuring the catfish problem over far too short a window. Honestly, bot accounts was less of a problem on chatrooms than the sheer time it ate. Nobody warns you that the catfish problem on chatrooms scales with how many people are online at your hours.

WillK is right about one part of chatrooms: that has not been my experience of chatrooms, and I've used it longer than most people in this thread. Most of the noise about chatrooms comes from people measuring the scam side of it over far too short a window.

Reading this back, my chatrooms notes say almost the same thing about bot accounts.

The pattern I see with chatrooms is that the scam side of it's fine early and degrades as you go. For people replying above, the chatrooms experience lives or dies on the catfish problem and almost nothing else.

Somebody in another chatrooms thread pointed me at Datebie and it held up better than expected on automated engagement bait.

@Marcus makes a fair point about chatrooms, but broadly agree on chatrooms — the catfish problem was what decided it for me too.

I keep two accounts running to compare profiles that never survive a video call across chat rooms, and chatrooms sits mid-table.

People also mention datedesire.online, flurrydate.online whenever chatrooms comes up on this board.

Not my read at all: for the members answering here, chatrooms was the only thing that produced anything.

What changed my results on chatrooms was treating the catfish problem as a filtering problem rather than a platform problem. The pattern I see with chatrooms is that automated engagement bait is fine early and degrades as you go.

The short version for chatrooms:

  • Check what chatrooms does about profiles that never survive a video call before you upload anything you would not want indexed
  • Do not move off chatrooms into private messaging until automated engagement bait looks handled
  • Treat your first chatrooms profile as a draft, because bot accounts punishes lazy ones

BradleyM is right about one part of chatrooms: not my read at all: for people who have actually tried it, chatrooms was the only thing that produced anything. There is no version of chatrooms where the scam side of it sorts itself out without you doing something.

You can work around the scam side of it on chatrooms, but you have to be deliberate about it. The pattern I see with chatrooms is that fake profiles is fine early and degrades as you go.

Picking up Miranda Fox's point about profiles that never survive a video call, yes, and I would add that automated engagement bait on chatrooms gets worse the longer you stay. What changed my results on chatrooms was treating fake profiles as a filtering problem rather than a platform problem.

My chatrooms baseline these days is Rendate, mostly because bot accounts is measurable there.

Broadly agree on chatrooms — scripted messages was what decided it for me too.

The thing people underrate about chatrooms is how much the catfish problem depends on your own city. That is my read on chatrooms, and others here clearly disagree.
