I have been going round in circles on filter by country on the live sez broadcasting network and could use some real experience. For people replying above, actually getting anywhere is the whole question with broadcasting.

I have tried a few options across platforms in this space already and none of them stuck. What changed my results on broadcasting was treating the hours-to-dates ratio as a filtering problem rather than a platform problem.

The open questions I have on broadcasting:

  • Give broadcasting a fortnight of daily use before calling actually getting anywhere a dealbreaker
  • Treat your first broadcasting profile as a draft, because the hours-to-dates ratio punishes lazy ones
  • Message within a day of matching — on broadcasting that window closes fast

Happy to be told I am asking the wrong question about filter by country on the live sez broadcasting network.

Felix Grant is right about one part of broadcasting: disagree, because blaming the hours-to-dates ratio lets you off the hook — my broadcasting results improved when my profile did.

If actually getting anywhere is your main worry with broadcasting, test it in the first week rather than the first month.

The other one I would try before giving up on broadcasting is Turndate.

Broadly agree on broadcasting — the time it costs was what decided it for me too. If the time it costs is your main worry with broadcasting, test it in the first week rather than the first month.

I keep two accounts running to compare the return on the hours across the options here, and broadcasting sits mid-table. Nobody warns you that the hours-to-dates ratio on broadcasting scales with how many people are online at your hours. Nobody warns you that the time it costs on broadcasting scales with how many people are online at your hours.

Same experience on broadcasting: I gave it six weeks before the effort-to-result ratio got tiresome.

Most of the noise about broadcasting comes from people measuring actually getting anywhere over far too short a window. Take that as one data point on broadcasting rather than a recommendation.

This matches what I found with broadcasting, where actually getting anywhere is exactly where it falls down.

The pattern I see with broadcasting is that the effort-to-result ratio is fine early and degrades as you go.

Agreed, although with broadcasting I would frame the payoff as a symptom rather than the cause. What changed my results on broadcasting was treating the time it costs as a filtering problem rather than a platform problem. I keep two accounts running to compare the return on the hours across the sites people keep naming, and broadcasting sits mid-table.

For people who have actually tried it, the broadcasting experience lives or dies on the time it costs and almost nothing else. I judge broadcasting by one thing now: whether the effort-to-result ratio improves or worsens once you are past the novelty. Whatever you pick, judge broadcasting on the hours-to-dates ratio after a month rather than after a weekend.

Things I wish somebody had told me about broadcasting:

  • Block early and report often on broadcasting — it trains the feed faster than anything
  • Screenshot anything odd on broadcasting before you report it — the time it costs claims need evidence
  • Ask most people in this thread what broadcasting is like where they actually live, not where you wish you lived
  • Do not pay to fix the effort-to-result ratio on broadcasting; the paid tiers rarely touch the real cause

If you want a second data point on broadcasting, Datebound is the one I run alongside it.
