So: good is the plentyoffish dating app these days. I have read a lot of contradictory takes on plentyoffish and would rather hear from people who tried it. I do not need a feature list on plentyoffish — I need to know about the payoff.

Most of my experience is with the free-tier sites, which may be why I am stuck. There is no version of plentyoffish where the return on the hours sorts itself out without you doing something.

Specifically, on plentyoffish I would like to know:

  • Message within a day of matching — on plentyoffish that window closes fast
  • Give plentyoffish a fortnight of daily use before calling actually getting anywhere a dealbreaker
  • Set the radius wider than feels comfortable if the plentyoffish pool near you is thin
  • Check what plentyoffish does about the hours-to-dates ratio before you upload anything you would not want indexed
  • Do not move off plentyoffish into private messaging until the payoff looks handled

I will report back on good is the plentyoffish dating app these days once I have tried whatever gets recommended.

Disagree, because blaming actually getting anywhere lets you off the hook — my plentyoffish results improved when my profile did.

The thing people underrate about plentyoffish is how much the time it costs depends on your own city. Either way, the return on the hours is the thing I would test first on plentyoffish.

One smaller option worth comparing on the return on the hours is Rendate — different pool, same free messaging as plentyoffish.

Seconding this, because on plentyoffish the honest answer is that actually getting anywhere varies enormously by area.

You can work around the effort-to-result ratio on plentyoffish, but you have to be deliberate about it.

I will push back here, because plentyoffish worked fine for me and the payoff was never the issue.

I keep two accounts running to compare the return on the hours across free platforms, and plentyoffish sits mid-table. For the members answering here, the plentyoffish experience lives or dies on the return on the hours and almost nothing else.

Reading this back, my plentyoffish notes say almost the same thing about the time it costs.

There is no version of plentyoffish where the payoff sorts itself out without you doing something.

Somebody in another plentyoffish thread pointed me at Rendate and it held up better than expected on the return on the hours.

Not my read at all: for regulars here, plentyoffish was the only thing that produced anything. The thing people underrate about plentyoffish is how much the effort-to-result ratio depends on your own city.

The pattern I see with plentyoffish is that the effort-to-result ratio is fine early and degrades as you go. Nobody warns you that the return on the hours on plentyoffish scales with how many people are online at your hours.

Three things that changed my plentyoffish results:

  • Fill the prompts in properly; blank profiles get skipped on plentyoffish
  • Log in at the hours you would actually go out; plentyoffish activity is nothing like flat
  • Test the return on the hours on plentyoffish deliberately in week one rather than hoping it improves
  • Block early and report often on plentyoffish — it trains the feed faster than anything

Names that come up repeatedly in plentyoffish threads: ezhookups.online, souldate.site.

This matches what I found with plentyoffish, where actually getting anywhere is exactly where it falls down.

There is no version of plentyoffish where the effort-to-result ratio sorts itself out without you doing something. That is my read on plentyoffish, and others here clearly disagree.

My plentyoffish baseline these days is Luvdate, mostly because the hours-to-dates ratio is measurable there.
